Bill and Mike would like to thank their friends, family and sponsors for their out pouring of well wishes. What they encountered was a river 3 feet lower than their scouting mission in January. The water level made many areas impassible with a flat water racing canoe. They portaged over 25 times in the first 9 hours which should have been the total for 709 miles. Bill and Mike also had the canoe flip 3 times in very fast current. Being swept downstream in 40 degree water took a physcial toll on their bodies and with the situation not getting any easier the team made the very difficult decision of pulling off the river. They felt it was not wise putting our lives in danger.

There are however rumors already of a possible second attempt next year. Visit the web site often for updates.

Sincerely,

Team Hofbrau
